I sat down today with our bills to try and figure out which ones we are going to try and cut or eliminate for the upcoming year. This is one of our resolutions that both, my husband and I, have decided would help us out tremendously. We started with our satellite package, then proceeded to the telephone bill. Next, we talked about different internet services available to us in this area.
Although, we both do need the internet for not only enjoyment, but for our business as well, we tossed around the idea of maybe switching to dial-up. I've had dial-up before and it's not really that bad. It allows me to get what I need done, and you're able to get it at the fraction of the cost than you would be able to get dsl service. I'm not really sure how my kids will feel about switching from dsl to dial-up, but they don't pay the bill. I am going to be looking to see how cheap dial up would be for us and make the decision based on the amount it will save.
I am also considering an investigation on our insurance plans we currently have. I know there are much lower rates and if we can get almost the same coverage, then I don't see why we should switch insurance companies also. By cutting some cost in our household budget, we will be able to spend the money on other things and still have money left over. With today's economic crisis, a low monthly budget is almost necessary and can keep you from struggling in the long run, especially if either of us were to loose our job. I just want to be prepared.
